Bengaluru taxpayers are giving us buoyancy, says FM Nirmala Sitharaman

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday, 28 February, hailed Bengaluru taxpayers for their contributions in building a strong “Viksit Bharat”.

She said the Department of Revenue is running its entire national faceless income tax assessment scheme from Karnataka’s capital city.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the upcoming complex “HONGIRANA” for Income Tax officers and staff in Bengaluru, she said the taxpayers of Bengaluru have been absolutely giving us buoyancy, and thanked all individual and corporate taxpayers in this region for making sure to build a strong and ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Expresses gratitude

  • Sitharaman expressed gratitude to Bengaluru for its relentless contribution and maintaining momentum.

  • The department’s central processing centre, responsible for governing the income tax system nationwide, is located in Bengaluru, driving the system and contributing to ease of doing business.
  • She emphasised that money invested in Karnataka returns in various forms, including infrastructure development such as roads, connectivity, metro, rail, suburban railway system, and the development of Mangaluru port and the Kalyana Karnataka region.
  • Sitharaman highlighted the significance of Bengaluru in running the Department of Revenue’s entire national scheme, indicating the scale of investment and the pride in the manpower from Bengaluru running the system for the entire country.
