Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan launches 4G internet services in remote areas of the state

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday, 15 June, virtually launched 4G internet services in remote locations of the state.

The chief minister launched the operation of 100 Reliance Jio towers from his camp office and thanked Union Telecommunications Department, BSNL, Reliance Jio and Airtel for extending their services to these remote corners of the southern state.

4G connectivity for remote villages

“It would help all households in remote areas get internet connectivity 209 remote corner villages would receive 4G services,” said Reddy in an official release.

Reliance Jio has set up 85 towers in Alluri Sitaramaraju district, Parvatipuram Manyam (10 towers), Annamayya (3 towers) and YSR Kadapa (2 towers), all of which would be upgraded with 5G capabilities soon.

Further, the YSRCP government has tied up with the Universal Service Obligation Fund to set up towers in collaboration with the Reliance Group.

Under this tie-up, mobile cell towers will be established in 2,849 places, out of which 2,463 have already received land from the government and by December land for the remaining places will also be handed over.

The Andhra Pradesh government has provided all the facilities required by Reliance Group for establishing these towers, which will extend 4G services to 5,459 houses and enable the inhabitants to download data at 150 MBPS and achieve uploading speeds of 50 MBPS.

According to the chief minister, these internet services will come in handy at village secretariats, rythu bharosa kendras (RBKs), village clinics, and schools which need broadband services while delivering welfare schemes.
