Buoyed by the Congress’ emphatic win in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and senior party leaders met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Saturday, 15 November, and reportedly discussed the political implications of the victory and the road ahead for the party in the state.
According to sources, the meeting was aimed at taking stock of the Jubilee Hills result, which has injected fresh energy into the ruling party as it completes two years in office.
The delegation that called on Rahul Gandhi included, besides Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and Naveen Yadav, who won the by-election to Jubilee Hills.
The leadership reportedly reviewed the electoral outcome, voter behaviour and the rapid consolidation of the Congress vote base in Hyderabad, a region long considered the party’s Achilles heel.
