Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday, 16 March, described BRS MLC K Kavitha’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as yet another public stunt by the BRS and the BJP to make a show that they are rivals.

Speaking to media persons at his residence on the eve of completing 100 days in office, he said: “The BRS wants to benefit from the sympathy ahead of the election. The BJP wants to reap harvest of votes by claiming that it spares none when it comes to corruption.”

He wondered why the ED should arrest Kavitha a day before the release of the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission of India, unless the BJP had ulterior motives.

K Kavitha’s arrest and KCR’s silence

Revanth Reddy said that it was very strange that Kavitha’s father and BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao did not go to her residence when the ED officials were arresting her. He had not even issued a statement condemning the arrest.

He has not given any explanation to the people. “What does KCR’s silence indicate?” he asked.

The chief minister said both the BJP and the BRS are trying their best to deal a blow to the Congress. “Let prime minster spell out what he had done for Telangana, keeping aside the political charades like arresting Kavitha,” Revanth Reddy said.

He questioned Modi on why he had not yet fulfilled the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 and why he had not yet given clearance for the expansion of the metro rail network in Hyderabad.

The chief minister also wanted to know why the BJP had not taken action against KCR’s dispensation for the alleged irregularities in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) when he was in power.

“On the other hand, as soon as we came to power, we ordered a judicial inquiry into the scam,” Revanth Reddy said, adding that after the receipt of the report, the government would take action.

He clarified that he would not resort to vindictive action against anyone but would not spare those who are involved in scams.

100 days of Congress rule in Telangana

The chief minister, referring to his 100 days in office, said that the upcoming Lok Sabha election would be a referendum on his 100 days’ rule in Telangana state.

He said that his administration thus far has given him immense satisfaction and that he had worked hard to meet the expectations of the people, particularly the six guarantees promised to them.

“During the 100 days, I have worked every minute for the implementation of the six guarantees,” Revanth Reddy said.

He said it was irresponsible of the Opposition party members to keep saying that they would pull down the government. “If the BRS tries to resort to any such misadventure, I guarantee that no one would be left in its camp,” the chief minister said.

He said that during the last 100 days, his government created history by filling 30,000 jobs.

“We have made a sincere attempt to instill confidence among the youth that they could look forward to securing employment in the government,” he said.

The chief minister said that among other achievements, his government had ensured that the employees would get their salaries on the first day of every month and providing access to the people to Praja Bhavan.

“It is no longer a restricted area,” the Revanth Reddy said, reiterating that “we are not rulers, but we are servants of the people.” He said another great hall mark of his government is ensuring partnership of all the stake holders in whatever initiative it takes for their welfare.
