Dakshin Dialogues, the annual flagship thought conclave of South First, is back in Hyderabad this year. The previous edition of Dakshin Dialogues was held in Bengaluru.
The third edition of the much-anticipated Dakshin Dialogues-2024, a platform for intellectual discourse in South India, will be held at Taj Krishna in Hyderabad on 5 October 2024. This is being supported by the governments of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
The event will continue its tradition of bringing together thought leaders from diverse fields, including policymakers, IT professionals, influencers, and industry stalwarts, to discuss pivotal issues concerning South India.
The theme of the dialogue this year is People and Technology: Governance for Tomorrow, which reflects the growing intersection of technology with every aspect of modern life.
There is an interesting line-up of talks aimed at exploring how IT and its broad spectrum are shaping society and how India can harness this transformation for progress.
While Hyderabad hosted the inaugural edition of Dakshin Dialogues on 17 September 2022, the second edition was held in Bengaluru on 7 October 2023.
The first edition focused on the topic – Is India Truly Federal? The Bengaluru edition deliberated on the Delimitation Exercise Scheduled for 2026.
The one-day event will kick off with the inaugural address of BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder-Chairman of CYIENT.
Dakshin Dialogues-2024 will comprise four sessions:
Skill Gap and Employability: Led by Priyank Kharge, IT & BT Minister, Karnataka, the session will discuss the current imbalance between technological demands and the available skillsets in India.
Making India a Global Brand: Tamil Nadu’s IT & Digital Services Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan will lead the discussion on India’s potential to establish itself as a leader in the global tech economy.
The Impact of AI on Society: D Sridhar Babu, IT & Commerce Minister, Telangana, will kickstart a discussion on both opportunities and ethical concerns surrounding artificial intelligence.
Digital Divide: Rural and Urban: P Rajeeve, Industries & Law Minister, Kerala, will be highlighting the pressing need to bridge the gap between urban tech hubs and rural communities.
The event will be moderated by Prof. Ramesh Loganathan (IIIT Hyderabad), Mr. Sateesh Andra (Endiya Partners), and Mr. Phanindra Sama (redBus Co-Founder).
The Dakshin Dialogues Conclave has consistently served as a platform for addressing key concerns of South India, while also bringing national attention to the region’s unique issues.
The first edition featured prominent speakers such as then Telangana Governor Dr Tamilsai Soundarajan, Dr Shashi Tharoor, and KT Rama Rao, delving into topics of political and social significance. The second edition in Bengaluru was inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and saw the participation of the state’s Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Justice J Chelameshwar, and Dr CN Ashwathnarayana, Khushboo Sundar, among others.
Dakshin Healthcare Summit was held on 3 August 2024, marking a significant expansion into the healthcare sector, with speakers like Sangita Reddy and Dr D Nageshwara Reddy speaking.
With its unique blend of political, social, and technology discourses, Dakshin Dialogues – 2024 is expected to deliver impactful discussions that not only highlight the challenges faced by the South but also propose solutions that could shape the future of India’s IT landscape.
