At the ethnic polling station in Kesaroli gram panchayat of Haliyal taluk in Karnataka, ethnic people attracted attention by wearing their special clothes and casting their votes.
The electoral process gained momentum as 94 Lok Sabha constituencies spread across 12 states and Union Territories went to the polls in the third phase on Tuesday, 7 May.
Goa witnessed polling in two seats, Gujarat 26, Chhattisgarh seven, and Karnataka 14, marking the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections in these states.
Polling in the first 14 constituencies in Karnataka was held during the second of the seven-phased election on 26 April.
Voters in two Lok Sabha seats in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu also exercising their franchise on Tuesday.
Additionally, voters in four Assam constituencies, five in Bihar, eight in Madhya Pradesh, 11 in Maharashtra, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, four in West Bengal, and one in Jammu and Kashmir also participated in the electoral process on Tuesday.
Votes will be counted, and results declared, on 4 June.
The Election Commission has deployed 1.6 lakh new Electronic Voting Machines in 46,389 polling stations for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh. Besides these, another 20 percent more EVMs have been kept ready.

A voter turnout of over 60 percent was recorded till 5 pm in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in 93 constituencies spread over 11 states and Union Territories on Tuesday.
According to the Election Commission, a voting percentage of 60.19 was recorded till 5 pm.
Maharashtra witnessed the lowest voting percentage with 53.40 percent voters exercising their franchise till 5 pm, while Assam recorded the highest with 74.86 percent.
Among other states, Bihar recorded 56.01 percent polling, Chhattisgarh 66.87 percent, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu 65.23 percent, Goa 72.52 percent, Gujarat 55.22 percent, Karnataka 66.05 percent, Madhya Pradesh 62.28 percent and Uttar Pradesh 55.13 percent, West Bengal 73.93 percent, the EC said.
The second phase of polling in Karnataka on Tuesday went on so smoothly that booth officials dressed up in costumes in Shivamogga managed to snag much of the attention.
Not only did the election officials dress up as kings and queens but the booth also had a throne for voters to take selfies flaunting their inked fingers.
Despite the searing heat, people turned up to cast their votes, and the polling percentage breached the 50 percent mark by 3 pm. In the last Lok Sabha Election, also held in two phases in 2019, a voter turnout of 68.66 percent was registered in the 14 constituencies of north Karnataka.
A total of 73.93 percent of the 73.37 lakh voters exercised their franchise in four Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal till 5 pm on Tuesday.
Murshidabad recorded the highest turnout of 76.49 percent, followed by Maldaha Dakshin (73.68%), Maldaha Uttar (73.30%) and Jangipur (72.13%).
55.13 percent of voters exercised their franchise till 5 pm for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
Sambhal recorded the highest turnout at 61.10 percent while Agra recorded the least with 51.53 percent.
A voter turnout of 53.40 percent was recorded till 5 pm on Tuesday as polling was underway in 11 of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra during the third phase of the general elections, as per data shared by authorities.
Latur registered 55.38 percent polling, Sangli 52.56 percent, Baramati 45.68 percent, Hathkanangale 62.18 percent, Kolhapur 63.71 percent, Madha 50.00 percent, Osmanabad 52.78 percent, Raigad 50.31 percent, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg 53.75 percent, Satara 54.11 percent and Solapur 49.17 percent.
At least 62.28 percent of voters exercised their franchise till 5 pm in nine Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh in the third phase of the general elections on Tuesday.
Of the nine Lok Sabha seats, Betul recorded 67.97 percent, Bhind 50.96 percent, Bhopal 58.42 percent, Guna 68.93 percent, Gwalior 57.86 percent, Morena 55.25 percent, Rajgarh 72.08 percent, Sagar 61.70 percent and Vidisha 69.20 percent.
A voter turnout of 55.22 percent was recorded at 3 pm in 25 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat in the third phase of the general election on Tuesday.
As per the data shared by the EC, the Valsad constituency recorded the highest turnout of 68.12 percent, while the Amreli seat saw the lowest turnout of 45.59 percent between 7 am and 3 pm.
Goa recorded a voter turnout of 72.52 percent at 5 pm on Tuesday.
The turnout recorded in North Goa was 73.51 percent and it was 71.55 percent in South Goa.
At 5 pm on Tuesday, the voter turnout in Chhattisgarh for the Lok Sabha elections was recorded at 66.87 percent.
Raigarh recorded the maximum turnout at 75.84 percent and Bilaspur recorded the lowest at 60.05 percent.
Bihar recorded a voter turnout of 56.01 percent at 5 pm on Tuesday.
Supaul constituency recorded the highest turnout of 58.91 percent while Jhanjharpur recorded the lowest of 53.29 percent.
Assam recorded a voter turnout of 74.86 percent at 5 pm on Tuesday.
Of the four constituencies where polling is being held on Tuesday, Barpeta recorded a turnout of 76.20 percent, Dhubri 79.70 percent, Guwahati 67.68 percent, Kokrajhar 74.24 percent.
Karnataka recorded a voter turnout of 66.05 percent till 5 pm on Tuesday.
Chikkodi recorded the maximum turnout of 72.75 percent and Gulbarga recorded the lowest with 57.20 percent.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday exercised his franchise at Amingaon in Barpeta Lok Sabha seat during the ongoing third and last phase of polls in the state.
The chief minister, accompanied by his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma and daughter Sukanya Sarma, cast his vote at the polling station of Amingaon High School.
"People have come out in large numbers to participate in the electoral process in the last phase of voting in Assam. More than 80 percent turnout was recorded in the first two phases and I am sure that would be repeated today," he told reporters after casting his vote.

The Pune police on Tuesday registered a non-cognisable offence against five persons after NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) alleged that some individuals belonging to the Ajit Pawar-led NCP distributed cash to voters in Bhor town of the district ahead of the polling for Baramati Lok Sabha seat, an official said.
The Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) lodged a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against the alleged distribution of money, while Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar refuted the charges against his party.
NCP (SP) leader Rohit Pawar alleged that the cash was being distributed in Bhor by the ruling NCP and alleged that a cooperative bank in Bhor was kept open till late Monday night.
Speaking to PTI, Pune Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh said, "A non-cognisable offence has been registered against five persons following allegations that they were involved in the cash distribution in Bhor in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday."

A total of 63.11 percent of 73.37 lakh voters exercised their franchise in four Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal till 3 pm on Tuesday.
Murshidabad recorded the highest turnout of 65.40 percent, followed by Maldaha Dakshin (62.90%), Jangipur (62.57%) and Maldaha Uttar (61.50%).
46.78 percent of voters exercised their franchise till 3 pm for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday alleged that the BJP workers were trying to loot booths in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh and detaining people from opposition parties in police stations.
"In Mainpuri, BJP people are trying to loot booths. They are detaining opposition people in police stations," Yadav said without giving details.
He also alleged rigging of votes at some places and said, "Information are coming from some places that the government is using force. It is heard that officers have been deployed outside polling booths."

Actor couple Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'souza exercised their franchise in Maharashtra's Latur in the third phase of the general elections on Tuesday.
The couple, accompanied by Riteish's mother, Vaishali Deshmukh, reached the polling booth in Babhalgaon village around 9.15 am.
Ritesh Deshmukh is the son of Congress leader and former state chief minister late Vilasrao Deshmukh.

A total of 49.27 per cent of 73.37 lakh voters exercised their franchise in four Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal till 1 pm on Tuesday.
Murshidabad recorded the highest turnout of 50.58 percent, followed by Jangipur (49.91%) Maldaha Dakshin (48.65%), and Maldaha Uttar (47.89%).

A voter turnout of over 25 percent was recorded in the first four hours of polling in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in 93 constituencies spread over 11 states and Union Territories on Tuesday amid sporadic incidents of violence in West Bengal and reports of poll boycott in some villages of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the Election Commission, a voting percentage of 25.41 percent was recorded till 11 am.

A voter turnout of 24.35 percent was recorded in the first four hours of polling in 25 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat in the third phase of the general election on Tuesday, an official from the Election Commission (EC) said.
"An average 24.35 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the first four hours of polling, which began at 7 am," the official said.
As per the data shared by the EC, the Banaskantha constituency in north Gujarat recorded the highest turnout of 30.27 percent, while the Porbandar seat in the Saurashtra region saw the lowest turnout of 19.83 percent between 7 am and 11 am.
Despite sporadic rains in most parts of Karnataka, the 14 segments going to polls today are facing heat wave-like conditions, with maximum temperatures ranging between 38 and 44 degrees Celsius in most districts.
The maximum temperatures forecasted for the 14 constituencies: Chikkodi (39 degree Celsius), Belgaum (38), Bagalkot (43), Bijapur (43), Gulbarga (43), Raichur (43.2), Bidar (41.5), Koppal (43.2), Bellary (41), Haveri (35.4), Dharwad (39.8), Uttara Kannada (37), Davangere (39.5) and Shimoga (39).
Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Meena told PTI that they have factored in information on north Karnataka region witnessing higher than usual temperatures and have made all necessary arrangements to ensure that people are not deterred from coming out of their homes to vote.

Kokrajhar recorded the highest turnout at 28.28 percent, followed by Dhubri at 27.77 percent, Barpeta at 27.19 percent and Guwahati at 26.25 percent, they said.
A total of 32.82 per cent of 73.37 lakh voters exercised their franchise in four Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal till 11 am on Tuesday, a poll official said.
Jangipur recorded the highest turnout of 33.81 pecent, followed by Maldaha Dakshin (33.09%), Murshidabad (32.72%) and Maldaha Uttar (31.73%).
Sporadic incidents of violence marred the third phase of Lok Sabha polls in the four constituencies in West Bengal as TMC, BJP and Congress workers clashed with each other in various parts of Murshidabad and Jangipur seats.
The EC received 182 complaints by 9 am, most of which were from Murshidabad and Jangipur constituencies.
In the Murshidabad seat, Left-Congress combine candidate Mohammed Salim claimed that he caught hold of a "fake booth agent" in the Rabinagar area of the constituency.
In the Rabinagar area, Salim was greeted with "go back" slogans as he tried to enter a booth following allegations of CPI(M) booth agents being heckled by alleged TMC goons.
In the Karimpur area of the seat, clashes were reported between the TMC and the CPI(M) supporters outside a few booths. Clashes were reported between the TMC and the Congress activists from the Domkol area.
In the Jangipur area, BJP candidate Dhanajoy Ghosh faced protests by TMC cadres as he tried to enter some of the booths in the constituency.
A voter turnout of 18.18 percent was recorded till 11 am on Tuesday as polling was underway in 11 of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra during the third phase of the general elections, as per data shared by authorities.
Latur registered 20.74 percent polling, Sangli 16.61 percent, Baramati 14.64 percent, Hathkanangale 20.74 percent, Kolhapur 23.77 percent, Madha 15.11 percent, Osmanabad 17.06 percent, Raigad 17.18 percent, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg 21.19 percent, Satara 18.94 percent and Solapur 15.69 percent.
At least 30.21 percent of voters exercised their franchise till 11 am in nine Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh in the third phase of the general elections on Tuesday, a poll official said.
Of the nine Lok Sabha seats, Betul recorded 32.65 percent, Bhind 25.46 percent, Bhopal 27.46 percent, Guna 34.53 percent, Gwalior 28.55 percent, Morena 26.62 percent, Rajgarh 34.81 percent, Sagar 30.31 percent and Vidisha 32.64 percent, the official said.

People used all modes of transport, including boats, to reach the polling stations across Guwahati, Barpeta, Dhubri and Kokrajhar constituencies to exercise their democratic franchise amid drizzles.
In the early hours, it seemed that the rain might play spoilsport, but people defied the odds and came out in large numbers.
Around 24.41 percent of over 98 lakh voters exercised their franchise in five Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar till 11 am on Tuesday, an election official said.
Supaul recorded the highest turnout of 25.98 percent, followed by Araria (25.97), Khagaria (24.49), Madhepura (23.21) and Jhanjharpur (22.39) till 11 am.

Karnataka reported a voter turnout of 24.48 percent till 11.30 am on Tuesday.
The Uttara Kannada constituency witnessed the highest turnout with 27.65 percent, followed by Chikkodi (27.23) and Shimoga (27.22). The Raichur Lok Sabha constituency had the lowest turnout of 22.05 percent.

About 12.94 percent of voters voted in the first two hours of polling on Tuesday for 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
While Sambhal witnessed 14.71 percent polling, Hathras (SC) recorded 13.43 percent, Agra (SC) 12.74 percent, Fatehpur Sikri 14 percent, Firozabad 13.36 percent, Mainpuri 12.18 percent, Etah 13.16 percent, Budaun 12.89 percent, Aonla 11.42 percent and Bareilly 11.59 percent till 9 am.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the party will register a thumping majority in Karnataka and that there "was no doubt" about it.
"Things are good, good reports are coming from everywhere. Alliance partners (INDI Alliance) are getting strength in this third phase (nationally). Definitely in this phase too we will get good support from the people," he said after casting his vote in Kalaburagi.
Kharge's son-in-law Radhakrishna Doddamani is the Congress candidate from Gulbarga (Kalaburagi) Lok Sabha segment, which the Congress veteran represented twice (2009, 2014), but lost in 2019.

A voter turnout of 13.24 per cent was recorded till 9 am on Tuesday in seven of the 11 Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh where polling was underway in the third and last phase of elections in the state.
Polling is being held in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir-Champa (reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates), Surguja (reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates) and Raigarh (ST) seats in the third phase.
Around 10.78 percent of over 98 lakh voters exercised their franchise in five Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar till 9 am on Tuesday.
Voting in Araria, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Madhepura and Khagaria seats, all currently held by the NDA, began at 7 am amid tight security and will continue till 6 pm, he said.
Supaul recorded the highest turnout of 11.41 per cent, followed by Araria (10.97), Madhepura (10.71), and 10.41 per cent each in Khagaria and Jhanjharpur till 9 am.
The electoral fate of 54 candidates will be decided in the third phase of polling in Bihar.

Around 10.12 percent of 81.49 lakh voters exercised their franchise in the first two hours of polling in four Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam on Tuesday.
Dhubri recorded the highest polling percentage of 10.75, followed by Guwahati (10.38), Kokrajhar (9.77), and Barpeta (9.26) till 9 am.
Sparse queues were seen in front of the 9,516 polling stations in the early hours of voting, owing to heavy rain on Monday night, but voting is expected to pick up as the day progresses.
Saplings are being distributed to voters at the model polling station set up in Karnataka's Shiralakoppa Municipal Office.

Polling was underway peacefully in four Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal as 15.85 percent turnout was recorded till 9 am on Tuesday.
Altogether 73,37,651 voters, including 36,12,395 women and 154 belonging to the third gender, are eligible to exercise their franchise.
An estimated 9.45 percent turnout was reported during the first two hours since voting began for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka's 14 constituencies.
Voter turnout till 9 am was about 9.45 percent.
Out of 14 segments that are polling on Tuesday, the highest turnout of 11.39 percent was recorded in Shimoga, followed by Uttara Kannada at 11.07 percent, and the least 8.27 percent in Raichur.
A total of 227 candidates — 206 men and 21 women — are in the fray for the second phase covering northern districts, where more than 2.59 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in 28,269 polling stations.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah cast his vote at a polling booth in Ahmedabad under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency in Gujarat on Tuesday morning.
Shah, who is contesting to retain the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, greeted his supporters, interacted with them and signed autographs as he approached the polling booth at a sub-station in Naranpura locality here.

After exercising his franchise, BJP Karnataka president BY Vijayendra said the results would favor the BJP. Speaking in Shivamogga after casting his vote, he said the results would surprise the ruling party (Congress).

Polling began on Tuesday morning for 11 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, including Baramati, where Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule is pitted against Sunetra Pawar, wife of the veteran leader’s estranged nephew and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Polling began at 7 am and will end at 6 pm at the 23,036 polling centres, set up for the third phase of the elections, an official said.
The seats where polling is taking place are Baramati, Raigad, Osmanabad, Latur, Solapur, Madha, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and Hatkanangale.
Prominent contestants also include royal scions Shahu Chhatrapati of the Congress in Kolhapur and BJP’s Udayanraje Bhosale in Satara as well Union minister Narayan Rane in Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg.
Altogether 2.09 crore persons are eligible to vote for 258 candidates in the third phase. There are 1,07,64,741 male voters, 1,02,26,946 female voters and 929 from the third gender in the third phase.
Voting began on Tuesday for four constituencies to decide the political fate of 47 candidates in the third and final phase of Lok Sabha elections in Assam.
Polling commenced at 7 am and will end at 5 pm in Guwahati, Barpeta, Dhubri and Kokrajhar seats.
Altogether 82.11 lakh voters, including 40.84 women and 112 belonging to the third gender are eligible to exercise their franchise in 9,516 polling stations.
Security arrangements have been tightened for the final round of Lok Sabha elections in the state.
"I appeal to all those who vote in today's phase of the election to exercise their rights in record numbers. Active voter participation will definitely make the election more exciting," he said on X.
Modi made the appeal in multiple Indian languages.

Polling began on Tuesday morning for 25 of the 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat, and for bypolls in five assembly constituencies in the state.
The BJP has already drawn first blood with Mukesh Dalal winning the Surat Lok Sabha seat unopposed after the nomination of the Congress's Nilesh Kumbhani was rejected over irregularities in the signature of proposers and other candidates withdrew.
The BJP is looking to repeat its sweep of 2014 and 2019 in the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Modi and Shah will cast their votes at booths in Ahmedabad city that fall under Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat. Modi will exercise his franchise at a booth in Nishan Public School in Ranip locality, while Shah will vote at Naranpura sub-zonal office in the city.
A total of 4.97 crore voters, comprising 2.56 crore males, 2.41 crore females and 1,534 from the third gender, are eligible to vote in 50,788 polling booths in the single-phase Lok Sabha elections in the state.
Polling began on Tuesday morning for 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh, including high-profile Mainpuri, in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
Over 1.89 crore voters will seal the fate of 100 candidates in parliamentary constituencies of Sambhal, Hathras (SC), Agra (SC), Fatehpur Sikri, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah, Budaun, Aonla and Bareilly, where polling began at 7 am and will go on till 6 pm.
It is an important phase for Uttar Pradesh's Yadav family.
The Samajwadi Party's (SP) Dimple Yadav is aiming to retain the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, which she won in the bypolls following the death of her father-in-law and party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Akshaya Yadav, the son of SP national principal general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, will try to reclaim the Firozabad seat.
Aditya Yadav, the son of SP national general secretary Shivpal Yadav, is making his electoral debut from the Budaun constituency, which was won by his cousin Dharmendra Yadav in 2014.
Polling began on Tuesday morning for seven of the 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh, in the third and last phase of general elections in the state.
Voting began at 7 am and will end at 6 pm, an official said.

A total of 1,39,01,285 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the third phase.
Polling began on Tuesday morning for both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa, where 16 candidates are in the fray.
Voting began at 7 am and will end at 6 pm.
More than 11 lakh voters in the coastal state are eligible to exercise their franchise in North Goa and South Goa seats, where the ruling BJP and opposition Congress are locked in a straight fight.
The contest in North Goa has BJP MP Shripad Naik taking on Congress's Ramakant Khalap. In South Goa, the BJP has fielded entrepreneur Pallavi Dempo against Navy-veteran-turned politician Viriato Fernandes of the Congress.
The South Goa Lok Sabha seat is currently held by Congress' Francisco Sardinha.
Sixteen candidates, eight each in North and South Goa Lok Sabha constituencies, are in the fray.
Goa has 11,79,644 voters, including 5,80,710 in North Goa and 5,98,934 in South Goa. They include 5,71,617 men, 6,07,715 women, and 12 members of the transgender community.
Polling began for five Lok Sabha seats in Bihar on Tuesday morning, amid tight security, officials said.
The voting started at 7 am in Araria, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Madhepura and Khagaria, all currently held by the NDA, and will continue till 6 pm, they said.

Stakes are high for several ministers in this phase with their children contesting.
Sons of Ministers Laxmi Hebbalkar and Eshwar Khandre — Mrinal Ravindra Hebbalkar and Sagar Khandre — are contesting from Belgaum and Bidar, respectively, while daughters of Ministers Satish Jarkiholi and Shivanand Patil-- Priyanka Jarkiholi and Samyukta Patil respectively — are in contention in Chikkodi and Bagalkot, respectively.
Prabha Mallikarjun, wife of Minister S S Mallikarjun and daughter-in-law of veteran Congress leader Shamanur Shivashankarappa, is contesting from Davangere.
The segments where elections will be held in Karnataka on Tuesday are: Chikkodi, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, Bellary, Haveri, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Davangere and Shimoga.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BJP had won all these seats, defeating Congress and JD(S), who were in alliance and ruling the state back then.
Voting for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka began on Tuesday, 7 May, in 14 constituencies.
Polling began at 7 am and will end at 6 pm.
A total of 227 candidates — 206 men and 21 women — are in the fray for the second phase covering the northern districts of the state where more than 2.59 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in 28,269 polling stations.
The Congress and BJP are locking horns on the electoral battleground again in less than a fortnight in Karnataka.

Bommai is currently representing Shiggaon segment in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He is the lone sitting BJP MLA contesting in Karnataka.
Six-time MP Ramesh Jigajinagi from Bijapur (SC), Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba from Bidar, four-time MP PC Gaddigoudar and Karnatakaformer Deputy CM B Sriramulu from Bellary (ST) are some of the prominent leaders from the BJP contesting in the parliament elections in Karnataka.
BJP parliamentary board member and former CM BS Yediyurappa's, son incumbent MP BY Raghavendra is fighting from the Shimoga seat. He is the brother of Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra.
JD(S), alliance partner of the BJP, is not contesting in any of these 14 parliament seats as they were awarded only three seats, which were in South Karnataka.
