Priyanka Gandhi with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi on Saturday.
The results of elections to Maharashtra and Jharkhand assemblies, and bypolls in 48 assembly segments spread over 14 states and two Parliament constituencies were declared later on Saturday, 23 November.
NDA’s ‘Mahayuti’ led by BJP, took Maharashtra by storm, decimating the opposition’s MVA. In Jharkhand, the JMM-Congress combine is set to win a comfortable majority against the BJP.
AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi won the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency by 4,10,931 votes. The bypoll was her electoral debut.
Priyanka said she was looking forward to being the voice of Wayanad in Parliament.
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the trust you have placed in me. I will make sure that over time, you truly feel this victory has been your victory and the person you chose to represent you understands your hopes and dreams and fights for you as one of your own. I look forward to being your voice in Parliament,” she said on X.
Despite the MUDA case, waqf land row, communal attacks and criticisms of its Guarantees, Congress in Karnataka won all three assembly seats — Shiggaon, Sandur, and Channapatna, where bypolls were held.
It was status quo in Kerala’s Chelakkara and Palakkad assembly segments with the LDF and UDF winning one each.
