Synopsis: Telangana ACB booked two women cops of Vikarabad Women’s Police Station for criminal misconduct, alleging they demanded ₹60,000, accepted ₹20,000 via e-wallet, and continued pressing for the balance before being arrested.
Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has lodged a case of criminal misconduct against Inspector B Saroja of Vikarabad Women’s Police Station and her subordinate, Sub-Inspector H Rani, for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe last month.
According to the ACB, the officers initially demanded ₹60,000 from a family in exchange for issuing notices in a criminal matter, later reducing the demand to ₹40,000, reported Telangana Today.
“An amount of ₹20,000 had already been transferred via an e-wallet to the Sub-Inspector in March. However, the officials continued to press the family for the remaining ₹20,000. The family subsequently approached the ACB, which registered the case and arrested both officers,” an official confirmed.
