Telangana ACB arrests two cyber crime officers for Rs 1 lakh bribe

Synopsis: Telangana ACB arrested two Armed Reserve Sub-Inspectors from LB Nagar Cyber Crime police station for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹1 lakh bribe. Officers Pramod Goud and Jatavath Babu Naik were caught in a trap operation and will face judicial remand before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally.

Telangana ACB has arrested two Armed Reserve Sub-Inspectors attached to the Cyber Crime police station under the Malkajgiri commissionerate for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh.

According to The Hindu, the officers, Pramod Goud and Jatavath Babu Naik of the LB Nagar Cyber Crime police station, were caught by the ACB City Range-II unit at LB Nagar Chowrastha on Monday, 9 March.


The pair are accused of demanding the bribe from a complainant in a cybercrime matter, offering to issue a notice under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) instead of proceeding with arrest.

Babu Naik was caught receiving the money on behalf of both officers, with the marked cash subsequently recovered.

Both men were taken into custody and will be presented before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
