Synopsis: Sub-Inspector T Ashok of Mamada police station in Telangana’s Nirmal district was arrested by ACB’s Adilabad unit for accepting a ₹20,000 bribe. The tainted notes were seized, and Ashok was produced before the special court in Karimnagar.
A police sub-inspector stationed at Mamada police station in Telangana’s Nirmal district was taken into custody by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday, 26 March, after being caught accepting a bribe of ₹20,000.
The officer, named as T. Ashok, was nabbed by ACB’s Adilabad unit following allegations that he had demanded money from a complainant in return for refraining from registering a case against him.

The exchange occurred at the SI quarters situated behind the police station, where the officer received the bribe, reported The Hindu.
Investigators recovered the marked cash from his possession. He was subsequently arrested and presented before the special court for SPE and ACB matters in Karimnagar.
The inquiry remains ongoing, and the complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons.
