Synopsis: Telangana ACB arrested Madhapur sub-inspector Gandra Vinay for demanding and accepting a ₹50,000 bribe to provide case documents and assure non-arrest. The tainted money was seized, he was remanded, and the case is under investigation.

Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday, 11 February, detained a sub-inspector attached to Madhapur police station after he was caught soliciting and accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 in return for an official favour.

The officer, Gandra Vinay, had demanded the payment from the complainant in exchange for supplying copies of a notice issued in a 2025 cheating case registered at Madhapur, and for assuring that the complainant would not face arrest in connection with the matter.

The marked bribe amount of ₹50,000 was recovered from the officer’s possession at his own disclosure, reported The Hindu.

Following the trap, he was taken into custody and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally, where he was remanded to judicial custody.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the complainant’s identity withheld for safety reasons.
