Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught Motor Vehicle Inspector A Vara Prasad in Wyra, Khammam district, on Tuesday, 24 March, after he was caught red-handed demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹24,000 from a contractor at the local RTO office.

According to Khammam Range DSP Y Ramesh, the officer had initially sought ₹24,800 in exchange for refraining from levying fines and penalties on the complainant’s transport vehicles operating in the Wyra region.

The bribe was received through Prasad’s private aide, Raja Shekhar, who absconded with the cash immediately after collecting it, reported Telangana Today.

During subsequent post-trap proceedings, investigators recovered a total of ₹50,200 from the inspector’s car. The accused is set to be taken into custody and produced before the special judge for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal, the DSP confirmed.
