Andhra Pradesh ACB on Saturday, 28 February, nabbed Indla Chalama Reddy, the Village Revenue Officer (VRO) of Gudluru, after catching him in the act of soliciting and receiving a bribe of ₹20,000.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by Ramala Madhava Reddy, a local contractor and farmer, who alleged that the VRO had demanded the payment in exchange for processing a solvency certificate.
The certificate was required for the release of his JCB, which had been seized in connection with an illegal sand excavation case, reported Deccan Chronicle.
Acting on the complaint, ACB officials organised a trap and detained the accused near the bus stand centre in Gudluru on 28 February. More searches are being conducted at his residence and office.
The accused will be presented before the Special Judge for ACB Cases in Nellore. A case has been registered against him under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
