Synopsis: A Panchayat Secretary in Komuravelli, Siddipet district, was caught by ACB officials while allegedly accepting a ₹10,000 bribe to remove a drainage pipeline. The bribe was taken via the sarpanch’s husband. Both were arrested, cash recovered, and the case is under investigation.

A Panchayat Secretary, identified as Gaddam Raju Goud of Komuravelli village in Telangana’s Siddipet district, was caught by Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe to carry out an official favour.

According to the ACB, the trap was laid on Sunday,  10 May, at around 4.40 p.m. at the Gram Panchayat office.

Investigators stated that the accused had demanded the payment for facilitating the removal of a drainage pipeline laid by the Gram Panchayat through the complainant’s plot in Komuravelli.

The bribe was allegedly received through Gollapalli Anjaneyulu, husband of the village sarpanch, who was also detained. The marked cash was recovered from his possession during the operation.

Preliminary enquiries by the ACB suggested that the accused had acted improperly and dishonestly in discharging public duty to secure undue advantage.

Both men are being produced before the II Additional Special Judge for trial of SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad. The matter remains under investigation, and the complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons.
