Synopsis: Telangana ACB arrested Karimnagar Superintendent Eegala Madhusudhan for allegedly accepting ₹14.77 lakh in bribes via UPI through a benami account. Investigators say he concealed errors in files for money; further transactions and accomplices are under probe.
Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday, 16 March, nabbed Eegala Madhusudhan, a Superintendent at the Joint Director Works Accounts office in Karimnagar, on allegations of accepting bribes amounting to ₹14.77 lakh.
Probe revealed that the officer had made use of a benami account at Bhadradri Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd to receive digital transfers through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), allegedly in return for extending unlawful “official favours.”

Between September 2022 and September 2023, 50-year-old Madhusudhan is said to have collected multiple payments via UPI, reported The Hindu.
He allegedly demanded money to conceal errors or amend discrepancies in files awaiting scrutiny, thereby offering favours in exchange.
The accused has now been booked, and ACB is continuing its inquiry to trace further transactions and to identify others who may be implicated in the matter.
