Congress Vs BJP
Synopsis: Even as tension keeps mounting between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan, the BJP preferred to draw political mileage by accusing the earlier Congress-led UPA government of smoking the peace pipe.
Even as the nation stood united behind the Union government and the Indian Armed Forces against Pakistan, the BJP on Saturday, 10 May, came up with a jingoistic, politically loaded video that drew immediate fire from the Congress and citizens alike.
The Opposition Congress as well as political analysts, senior journalists and common citizens were irked by the message from the @BJP4India handle that accused the earlier UPA regime of being passive towards terrorist acts, while indulging in bravado over escalation between India and Pakistan.
The politically loaded video came even as Pakistan’s attacks in northern and western regions of India are resulting in civilian and military casualties.
“The message to the enemies is loud and clear. Don’t mess with us!” the tweet said before proceeding to add a seemingly immature comment in English.
“Unlike the UPA regime’s passivity, New India has no patience for futile peace talks,” it added with the hashtag, #OperationSindoor.

Responding to the comment, Congress media and publicity head Pawan Khera wondered whether “we have to do politics now?”
“Is it time to do politics? Doesn’t the government need the support of the opposition? Do we not have to give a message of unity now? The government and BJP should clarify,” he demanded on X.
The opposition parties have unitedly rallied behind the government in giving a befitting response to the 22 April massacre in Pahalgam, and Pakistan’s subsequent misadventure following India’s precision strikes on terrorists’ infrastructure in PoK and mainland Pakistan.
The neighbouring country has targeted hospitals, schools, and civilians, even as India exercised restraint and ensured minimal collateral damage across the border with measured and focused strikes. Pakistan has also started moving its troops to forward areas.
Incidentally, the BJP’s comment on X came at this juncture.
