Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy on Thursday, 23 March, asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT) — which has been constituted to probe the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak — to act on the comments made by the state’s IT Minister KT Rama Rao on the mess.

After producing the evidence that he said supported his allegations in the question paper leakage before the SIT, the Telangana Congress president told reporters that he informed the SIT officials that KTR had full information about the scam.

Revanth Reddy drove to the SIT office on Thursday morning, raising the political heat in the state. He was accompanied by his followers in a cavalcade of cars.

After they reached the office, the police allowed only Revanth Reddy inside while others were asked to wait.

Protest against police

The party workers raised slogans against the police and tried to storm the premises, but the police used force to control them. NSUI president Balmuri Venkata Narasinga Rao led the protestors.

Revanth Reddy said that the state government was muzzling the voice of the Opposition using strong-arm tactics after remaining callous in taking necessary steps in making the TSPSC foolproof as the ruling party was more interested in emerging as a national player and had no time to set its house in order.

The state government had failed to make the students trust the TSPC and now the responsibility for the leakage has to be borne by KTR alone. He has to be dismissed from the Cabinet forthwith, he said.

‘KTR trying to protect others’

Revanth Reddy said that by blaming only two employees in the TSPSC for the muddle, KTR had tried to protect the big boys in the government who may have had a role in the leakage.

The SIT, instead of trying to investigate their role, was trying to intimidate the Opposition leaders by serving notices on them. “I for myself, gave whatever evidence I had with me to the SIT, honouring the law of the land,” he said.

Revanth Reddy said that after the leakage of question papers,  the only people who responded to it were him, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and KTR.

The SIT did not issue notices to KTR but was prompt enough to send notices to both of us, said him, asking, “How come the SIT did not issue notices to KTR?.”
