Singh trains guns on BRS and AIMIM

Before filing his nomination papers, Singh held a two-wheeler rally in his constituency. He alleged that the BRS in the state has not been able to finalise the name of the candidate from the constituency because the AIMIM has not approved the name.

“The BRS is not able to decide on the candidate as the AIMIM office has not approved any of the names,” Singh said.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur accompanied Singh to the Municipal Office, Abids, where submitted his nomination papers.

Though he arrived at the Municipal Office with a huge number of followers, the police allowed only four people to go inside.

Singh was suspended from the BJP in August 2022 for making incendiary remarks against a specific community. He was also in jail for three months under the Preventive Detention Act after making unsavoury remarks against the Prophet.

His suspension was subsequently lifted by the BJP’s Central Disciplinary Committee, hours before the release of the first list of candidates, to accommodate his candidacy.

Singh represented Goshamahal in the state Assembly in 2014 and 2018. He was the lone BJP candidate to win in the 2018 election. The BJP subsequently won two byelections — Dubakka and Huzurabad — taking its tally in the 119-member House to three.
