Synopsis: Telangana police arrested three people over alleged phone tapping during the BRS rule in the state. Former state health minister T Harish Rao is the primary accused in the case.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the alleged phone tapping incidents during the BRS rule in Telangana, arrested three people in connection with the case.

They were arrested over charges of criminal conspiracy for forgery, impersonation, attempted extortion, and offences under the Information Technology Act in a case registered at the Panjagutta Police Station in Hyderabad.

Todupunoori Santosh Kumar (35), Bandi Parashuramulu (34) and Teljeer Vamshi Krishna (37) were arrested based on a complaint filed by Gadhagoni Chakradhar Goud, a resident of Siddipet.

Former state health minister T Harish Rao is the primary accused in the case. Former deputy commissioner of police P Radha Kishan Rao is the second accused.

SIM cards under fake identity

According to the police, Goud had reported that he was put under life threat through illegal surveillance by some people working in conspiracy.

He had also reported that he was receiving messages of blackmail on his WhatsApp from an anonymous account with a phone number from unknown persons.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Santhosh Kumar, who operates a private shop (Bhavani Communications) at Siddipet had issued a SIM card illegally using the personal identity documents of an innocent villager to Parsharamulu and Vamshi Krishna who had conspired with some others.

Police said it was used to send threatening messages to the complainant to extort money and to scare him from indulging in his social activities in the Siddipet constituency.

Vamshi Krishna worked with the complainant after he was removed from the Arogyasri department on corruption charges.

Later, in June 2023, he was reappointed and worked in the camp office of Harish Rao until December 2023. Police said, incriminating pieces of evidence were also seized as per procedure from the accused persons during the investigation.
