Telangana likely to see moderate to heavy thunderstorms from 16 to 20 March

Telangana weather: Heavy rainfall and storms expected, including in Hyderabad.

The Meteorological Centre of Hyderabad issued new rain alerts on Saturday, 11 March, for several districts of north Telangana.

Based on the forecast on Saturday, the weather alerts for Telangana are issued till 15 March.

The districts that are likely to witness downpours are Adilabad, Nirmal, Kumrambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Karimnagar.

“Clouds are forming due to the convection of intense heat, which are likely to cause light to moderate rain in the next five days in Telangana,” the head scientist at the Weather Forecasting Department of IMD Hyderabad, K Nagaratna, told South First.

Convectional rainfall is a kind of rainfall that occurs when the heated air from the ground rises along with the water vapour and gets condensed after reaching a higher altitude.

Meanwhile, according to weather enthusiasts, crop-damaging heavy thunderstorms can also be expected in Telangana between 16 and 20 March.

The showers are likely to peak between 16 March and 18 March.

While some districts of Telangana will see light to moderate storms, others will receive moderate to heavy showers. Heavy thunderstorms are also likely to occur in some of the Telangana districts, including heavy rainfall in Hyderabad, the weather enthusiasts have predicted.

Districts, where light to moderate storms are expected, are Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial Rajanna Sircilla, Media, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Mahbubnagar, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy and Gadwal.

Districts, which might receive moderate to heavy showers, Kumrambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Warangal Urban, Siddipet, Jangaon, Medchal, Yadadri, Bhongir, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Nalgonda and Nagarkurnool.

Mulugu, Bhupalpally, Warangal rural, Mahbubabad, Suryapet, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem are likely to witness heavy thunderstorms.
