Surveys show BRS is going to sweep the polls, says confident KCR at party meeting

That BRS gearing up for the Assembly elections became clear as KCR called the BRSLP and BRSPP meeting within 20 days of its last occurrence, which is a rarity.

It was only last month that the BRS chief chaired a meeting where he warned the MLAs demanding a cut in the Dalit Bandhu subsidy from the beneficiaries.

The chief minister, at Wednesday’s meeting, is understood to have grown impatient with the MLAs who were not trying to reform themselves.

He wanted them to get out of the habit of making a show of doing service and actually go to the ground level and be in the midst of people. He told the MLAs to remain responsive to the needs of the people.

The chief minister, sources said, made no bones about bypassing the MLAs who did not get cracking to improve the prospects of the party.

He said that he would not hesitate to field new faces in their place if they continued to remain callous to the party’s requirements, though in principle he wanted to field all the sitting MLAs once again in the elections.

He wanted the MLAs to promote awareness of how much the government was spending on welfare schemes and how they were helping the people lead a decent life. He asked them to be in their constituencies at least 21 days a month.

He was unhappy over the way the athmeeya sammelans were held in Hyderabad.

He asked the MLAs and leaders to bury their differences and work shoulder-to-shoulder to help the party win the elections.

He advised the MLAs to explain to the people what the BRS had done for them during the last nine years.

He said that they should hold informal interactions on the banks of lakes and lunch with them to establish a rapport, which is very essential to keep the BRS flag flying high.

BRS for the win

Referring to the Karnataka Assembly elections’ verdict, the chief minister said that he was not attaching much importance to it, implying that they should not be disheartened by the victory of the Congress in the neighbouring state. The Congress had done nothing for the nation in the last 70 years and there was no way it would improve its performance in the future, he said.

The chief minister also wanted the celebrations of Telangana Formation Day on 2 June to be held for 21 days on a grand scale as the state was entering the 10th year of its existence. He said in these nine years, the BRS government has brought 100 years of development to the state.

The chief minister underscored the need for every BRS leader to take part in these celebrations with zest as it is one of the factors that would help galvanise people in favour of the BRS, since it was the party that had fought and secured separate statehood to Telangana.
