Sangareddy chemical factory blast: Death toll rises to six; families offered ₹42 lakh compensation

The compensation was announced for four deceased labourers after their families protested on 4 March, kilometers away from the company's site.

The death toll in the Sangareddy Chemical Factory explosion increased to six on Thursday, 4 March. Over twenty are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Telangana.

Out of the 20, 14 victims are currently receiving treatment at MNR Hospital in Sangareddy. Of the remaining six individuals, three were referred to Yashoda Hospital Hitech City. Two are in critical condition.

One person was referred to Care Hospital Gachibowli, and another was sent to Citizens Hospital Nallagandla. A victim, who is in critical condition at MNR Hospital, will soon be referred to one of the aforementioned private hospitals in Hyderabad.

Compensation for deceased victims

The 14 patients admitted at MNR Hospital are suffering from multiple injuries and lacerations on the body.

SB Organics Private Limited, following the reactor explosion in Sangareddy, has declared a compensation of ₹41 lakh for the family of the four deceased victims.

In addition, Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha has offered an extra ₹1 lakh, bringing the total to ₹42 lakh for each family.

While the death toll stands at six, details regarding the other two victims, who are senior employees of the company, are pending.

The deceased are identified as Suresh Paul, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, working as an operator in maintenance; Dayalan, a resident of Tamil Nadu, working in the company’s plant lab; V Ramesh, a local from Konyala village, working as a helper and Chakali Vishnu, a native of Chandapur village, also a helper.

Ravi Sharma is the director of the company and Subrahmanyam is Senior Executive of Unit 2. The company has taken responsibility for the above-mentioned persons as they are employees of the company.
