Telangana Congress SC ST Declaration

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy on Monday, 9 October, said that the first signature of the Congress chief minister in Telangana would be on the file containing six guarantees.

He was referring to the six promises announced by the party at a rally on the second day of last month’s Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting held in Hyderabad.

He also took on Telangana Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, saying that he would be thrown out of power in the state.

Taking on the BJP

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Monday that the election to the 119-member Telangana Assembly would be held in a single phase on 30 November.

The TPCC president told reporters in Hyderabad the same day that the announcement of elections signalled the end of the evil that had held Telangana in its grip.

Revanth Reddy asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah why they were visiting Telangana all too often.

He said BJP votes went in favour of the BRS in the 2018 Assembly elections, which resulted in the saffron party losing security deposit in 105 constituencies.

The BJP won four seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha election with the help of the BRS, but all of them should have legitimately gone to the Congress, he added.

Though BJP has no stakes in Telangana, the top brass keeps visiting, which exposes the “bond” that exists between the two parties, he claimed.

Swipes at the BRS

He called upon the people of Telangana to celebrate Dasara with redoubled enthusiasm as the Congress was giving them the opportunity to dump the BRS.

“The people should ensure a KCR-Mukt Telangana,” he said, adding that KCR had plundered ₹1 lakh crore of the people’s money and occupied 10,000 acres of land.

He said KCR seemed to have gone into hiding after Sonia Gandhi announced the six guarantees for the people of Telangana. In fact, he seemed to have contracted fever after understanding the implications of the promises, he said.

There was no need for KCR to come out of his farmhouse anymore, he said, adding: “He should hang up his shoes and take rest.”

Stressing on poll guarantees

The Congress leader said that as soon as it came to power, it would begin implementing the promises made to the people already.

“We will ensure that the benefits of all welfare schemes would reach the beneficiaries they are intended for,” Revanth Reddy said, adding that the motto of the party was to create wealth and distribute it among the people.

He said that the Congress was ready for debate on the progress achieved during the BRS regime and the Congress rule.

“Let the BRS announce the dates. We will come to Martyrs Memorial to present our progress card,” he said.

The Congress leader said that after Vijayadasimi, the Congress would aggressively go into the midst of the people to explain to them what it intends to do for them.

“The six guarantees are our candidates,” he said when asked about when the party was going to finalise the candidates.
