Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, 18 March, went for the Opposition Congress’ jugular for saying that it would fight against “Shakti” at the INDIA bloc rally in Mumbai on Sunday.

The prime minister was addressing a huge rally in Jagityal in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana.

He said: “The INDIA bloc leaders say that they would fight against Shakti. But I adore and worship Shakti. Each mother and sister is Shakti to me. I am Shakti’s pujari.”

The prime minister was reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s description of the might of the state as Shakti which he said had had traded the soul and integrity of EVMs to the king, implying Modi.

Rahul had also said that every autonomous institution in the country including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the CBI and the Income Tax (I-T) Department become spineless before the Union government.

Slams Rahul Gandhi

Modi, slamming Gandhi over the remarks, said that he had a high regard for Shakti and was ready to risk his life for its protection.

Mein Jaan ki bazi laga dunga (I will risk my life),” said Modi, in a fit of emotion and said he would lay down his life if necessary in his endeavour to protect it.

The prime minister called on the people to support the BJP in the upcoming world’s largest election, and said that the day of counting — 4 June — signified 400 implying that the saffron party would win 400 seats in the Lok Sabha.

He cautioned the people of Telangana to be wary of the two parties — the Congress and the BRS — which had become partners in crime and were out to protect each other.

“Both are parivarvadi (dynastic) parties. That is why the Congress is not taking against the BRS. It is sitting tight over Kaleshwaram files. The ill-gotten money is now reaching the Congress leadership in Delhi,” he said.

He also spoke of the alleged Delhi Liquor Policy scam for the first time, probably in the wake of the arrest of BRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha and the ongoing questioning by the ED in Delhi.

He said: “I will not leave anyone who has looted people’s. This is Modi’s guarantee.”

Takes dig at ‘parivaarvadi’ parties

The prime minister recalled how parivarvadi parties got embroiled in scams over a period of time.

“In the 2G scam, the name of the DMK came out, in the National Herald case, the Congress top brass faced allegations, and now the BRS, another parivarvadi party, also joined the list. It is involved in the Kaleshwaram and Delhi Liquor policy scams,” he said

The prime minister said that unless the people support him by electing the BJP he would not be able to serve them better.

“Telangana would prosper only when India develops,” he said and expressed satisfaction over the response from the people to his rallies.

” I am surprised at the support for the BJP in Telangana. In this Jagtiyal town, I am amazed at the crowd. A wave is rising and it will sweep away the Congress and the BRS,” he said and paused his address for a few moments to listen to the people chanting “Modi, Modi”.

He said he was very fortunate to watch the spectacle of everyone, “Every mother and every sister blessing me in this way”.

He described himself as a priest (poojari) of Bharat Matha and wondered whether anyone had ever seen the Congress or the BRS leaders chanting the name of Bharat Matha.

“They are self-centric leaders and the country’s development is not their priority. But I adore and respect every woman as they represent Bharat Matha and Shakti that is needed to be protected for taking the country forward,” he said.
