BRS working president and former minister KT Rama Rao on Monday, 29 April, questioned how the Centre could allow JD (S) MP Prajwal Revanna to leave the country.

In a post on X, the former BRS minister said that if the Union Government was not complicit in the escape, let it “bring him back to India to face the charges and the wrath of law.”

He said he was shocked and disturbed by the news of rampant sexual exploitation by Prajwal Revanna.

The BRS recalled how blind the (BJP) remained to women harassment in Manipur, released the “rapists” of Bilkis Bano and ignored the charges by wrestlers against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, and now this!”

Mounting outcry over the scandal

Revanna, son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, and Prajwal Revanna, who is Revanna’s son, are both accused in the sensational case of sexual harassment of women employed at Prajwal Revanna’s residence.

Prajwal Revanna is also the NDA candidate for the Hassan Lok Sabha seat.

For quite some time now, the videos of sexual abuse of those employed at Revanna’s residence have been making headlines. The news came to light when a woman lodged a complaint with Holenarasipura police in Karnataka.

What has hurt the righteous indignation of the people of the state was that Prajwal Revanna had managed to reportedly flee the country to Germany on 27 April even as the controversy over the alleged sexual abuse of the father-son duo kept raging.

After the police registered the case, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has constituted a special investigation team to probe the allegations of sexual abuse of women hired at Prajwal’s residence.

The chief minister said that the police will conduct the investigation based on the visuals in which women were seen being sexually harassed.

Meanwhile, JDS-BJP election agent lodged a complaint that the “morphed” videos were circulated with the malicious intent of defaming Prajwal.

While the Congress is pounding the BJP-JD (S) on the issue, the saffron party has been distancing itself from the controversy, to prevent any potential nation-wide impact on its image.
