Kerala MLA Uma Thomas critical after 20-foot fall at Kaloor Stadium

Kerala’s sole woman Congress MLA Uma Thomas is in critical condition after falling 20 feet from the VIP gallery at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium Kaloor, Kochi during a Bharatanatyam performance. She is currently on ventilator support with severe injuries to her brain, lungs, and spine, according to hospital officials.

The incident occurred during a performance featuring 12,000 dancers, led by actor Divya Unni. Also in attendance were Minister Saji Cherian and Kochi City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladithya. Eyewitnesses reported that Thomas, who represents the Thrikkakara assembly constituency, lost consciousness upon impact, and a pipe fell onto her following the fall. The reasons behind her fall are unconfirmed, but sources suggest it may be related to stage management.
