BRS chief and former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, in a video released on social media platforms on Tuesday, 12 December, requested the party cadre and fans to not gather at the private hospital in Hyderabad where he is recuperating after hip-replacement surgery.

The move came after many leaders and BRS cadre rushed to the Yashoda Hospital to meet him and enquire about his health.

In the video, KCR also stated that doctors had warned him of a possible infection due to the meetings, as he was still recovering from surgery, and expressed concern about the traffic menace in and around the hospital premises.

This video comes after the public protested against the Yashoda Hospital management for not allowing them to see the former chief minister.

A string of politicians and actors from across the political spectrum, including Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, have visited KCR since his surgery.

A message from KCR

In the video released, KCR said, “I wholeheartedly thank the hundreds of people who have come here to see me. Due to an unfortunate accident, I underwent hip surgery and am recovering from it. The doctors have strictly warned me that meeting the public could lead to infections, potentially worsening the situation. So, I earnestly request everyone, with my hands folded, to return to your places.”

The BRS chief added: “For at least the next 10 days, please don’t come to this hospital as there is a traffic problem nearby. Additionally, at least 100 patients, along with me, are undergoing treatment, and their safety is also important for all of us.”

He also said: “I am a people’s man. So, after my recovery, I will meet you all. Please cooperate with KTR and other leaders who instruct you here.”

Surgery after fall at farmhouse

Following the defeat of the BRS in the recent Telangana Assembly elections, KCR resigned as the chief minister on 3 December. He stayed at his Erravelli farmhouse, where he held meetings with party leaders and the public.

The 69-year-old KCR is said to have fallen at this Erravelli residence in the early hours of 8 December and was shifted to Yashoda Hospitals at Somajiguda.

After a thorough evaluation, the hospital reported that he had sustained a left hip fracture, and surgery was deemed necessary.

On the night of 8 December, he underwent the surgery successfully, as indicated in a bulletin released by the hospital.

Meanwhile, the BRS on 9 December unanimously elected KCR as its Legislature Party leader. The meeting was not attended by the former chief minister’s son and party working president KT Rama Rao either. Both are yet to take the oath as MLA.
