KCR Delhi Parties

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday, 19 November, described the “Delhi parties” (the BJP and the Congress) as “eagles” that were descending to feed on Telangana, which he had built brick by brick after its creation in 2014.

Addressing election rallies in Kollapur and Alampur in the Mahbubnagar district, the chief minister said that he had toiled hard to put the newly created state back on track, and now it was moving forward steadily.

“This is the result of 10 years of hard work,” he said, claiming the “Delhi parties” were jealous of the progress and wanted to exploit the state once again.

‘BRS showed the way’

He said he introduced the Rythu Bandhu scheme to prevent farmers from going to money-lenders for investment in farm inputs, which used to be the case earlier.

“Did farmers get any money directly from the government when the Congress was in power? In those days, bankers used to take away doors of the houses of farmers when they failed to repay loans,” he said.

“Rythu Bandhu took birth only to help the farmers who were not in a position to invest in inputs in their farm operations. No government in any state had given money directly to farmers. It was the BRS that showed the way,” he said.

Calling the Congress to account for not doing anything for the people of Telangana when it was in power in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, the chief minister cautioned the voters against supporting the grand old party.

“Former PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy says Rythu Bandhu is a waste of money. If you want Rythu Bandhu to continue, you have to vote for the BRS,” said KCR.

Only then would farmers get not only the financial incentive but also round-the-clock power supply, he said.

The power supply debate

He drew the attention of the people to the Congress’ assertions that a three-hour power supply to the farm sector was enough.

“I do not understand how three hours of power supply could be enough. PCC president A Revanth Reddy, who hails from this district, says an hour’s supply is enough if farmers upgrade to increase the capacity of their motors to 10 HP. We have lakhs of pump sets. We will need ₹30,000 crore to upgrade them to 10 HP pump sets. Who will give us that kind of money?” he asked.

He said the Congress’ election talk was like the one who asks all others to cook food so that he would come at the right time to serve it to the guests.

At Alampur, he said that the Congress, which was the tormentor of Telangana’s people, was now saying shamelessly that it would restore Indiramma Rajyam.

‘Indiramma Rajyam known for hunger’

“Indiramma Rajyam is known for hunger, squalor, and privation,” said the chief minister.

He also wondered aloud if the Congress leaders were thinking that the suffering the people experienced during their rule was not enough.

“No one in the successive Congress regimes ever thought of helping the farmers. They had dealt a blow on the psyche of Telangana’s people,” KCR said.

After the Congress demitted office, leaving behind a trail of destruction in Telangana, the BRS government set out to reconstruct the badly mauled and mutilated state, he said.

“We have constructed a lift irrigation scheme on the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS), which will supply water to 35,000 acres. The Mallammakunta Reservoir has to be built for the benefit of farmers in this area as well as Chinnonipally. A part of the Nettempadu project is yet to be completed. The BRS is committed to completing all these projects,” he said.
