Karnataka cricketer K Hoysala succumbs to heart attack on the field

Hoysala fell unconscious on the field while celebrating with his team, complaining of severe chest pain. He died on the way to the hospital.

In a heartbreaking incident that has recently come to light, cricketer K Hoysala (34) suffered a fatal heart attack during a match in the ongoing Aegis South Zone tournament.

The incident occurred during a match between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu at the RSI cricket ground in Bengaluru on Thursday, 22 February. Its details emerged on Friday evening.

After Karnataka’s victory, Hoysala fell unconscious on the field while celebrating with the team, complaining of severe chest pain.

He was promptly taken to Bowring Hospital in Bengaluru by ambulance, but sadly he succumbed to a heart attack en route to the hospital.

According to Dr Manoj Kumar, the director of Bowring Hospital and Atal Bihari Medical College, “Hoysala was brought in dead due to a heart attack. We have completed the post-mortem examination and are awaiting the report.”

A middle-order batsman and bowler, Hoysala represented the Karnataka team in the under-25 category. He also played in the Karnataka Premier League.
