Light to moderate rain in Hyderabad in the next two days

Light to moderate rainfall is likely in Hyderabad in the next two days and might extend to the weekend, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday, 29 June.

Large parts of Hyderabad, including the outskirts, saw moderate to heavy downpours on Tuesday, which led to water stagnation in many low-lying areas.

The inundated roads also affected the free flow of traffic.

Cloudy weather

According to the IMD, Hyderabad is likely to experience cloudy weather accompanied by thundershowers in many places in the next 48 hours.

Maximum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 32-33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures will be between 22C and 23C.

“While the monsoon arrived long ago, Telangana is still under the influence of the west and southwesterly winds. There is going to be light to moderate rainfall across Hyderabad and the rest of the state over the next three-four days,” K Nagaratna, Head Scientist at the Weather Forecasting Department of IMD Hyderabad, told South First.

Meanwhile, IMD Hyderabad has not issued a yellow alert, aka the “be prepared” warning, for Hyderabad for Thursday.

“For tomorrow, there is no yellow alert declared but we are monitoring the satellite round the clock for any update,” Nagaratna said.

IMD Hyderabad had, however, issued a yellow alert for 29 June.

Spells of heavy rain

Areas including Secunderabad, Somajiguda, Begumpet, Panjagutta, Banjara Hills, Mehdipatnam, Khairatabad, Alwal, Nagaram, Gachibowli, and Malkajgiri saw constant downpour during the day.

The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) observed that Malkagiri recorded the highest rainfall at 51.8 mm, followed by Alwal (50.5 mm), Kapra (43 mm), Trimulgherry (38.8 mm), Uppal (34.8 mm), Kushaiguda (34 mm), Balramnagar-Malkajgiri (34 mm), and Anandbagh (32.4 mm).
