Hyderabad police seize ₹3.35 crore of unaccounted money; ₹88 lakh seized in Narsingi

With the pre-poll Model Code of Conduct in place in Telangana, police are conducting checks at various locations across the state.

Hyderabad police seize ₹3.35 crore of unaccounted money; ₹88 lakh seized in Narsingi

The Commissioner’s Task Force North Zone and the Banjara Hills Police in Hyderabad seized unaccounted money worth ₹3.35 crore during a vehicle checking operation in Banjara Hills.

During the inspection at TV-9 Signal Junction on Road No.3 in Banjara Hills, the passengers of a vehicle were found behaving suspiciously, leading to a thorough search.  Subsequently, the unaccounted money was discovered concealed within the vehicle.

The individuals apprehended during this operation are Chimpireddy Hanumantha Reddy, Bachala Prabhakar, Mandala Sriramulu Reddy, and Mandala Uday Kumar Reddy.

Seized items

Seized items include ₹3.35 crore in unaccountable cash, one cash counting machine, and the vehicle with registration number TS-09-GB-4488.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Chimpireddy Hanumantha Reddy, an employee in a private firm, along with the other individuals, was involved in the collection and distribution of Hawala amounts across the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The group operated from an office in Banjara Hills, where they conducted these illicit transactions.

Typically, Prabhakar would receive orders for Hawala amounts and instruct the others, including Hanumantha Reddy, Sriramulu Reddy, and Uday Kumar Reddy, to collect and distribute the funds as per customer requirements.

They charged a commission of ₹25,000 for every 1 crore of Hawala amount delivered.

₹88 lakhs seized in Narsingi

In a related development, during the checks conducted by the Narsingi Police. an amount of ₹88 lakh unaccounted money was seized.

Adhering to the Model Code of Conduct in Telangana, the police were conducting checks at various locations across the state.

Earlier, on Monday, the Hyderabad Police seized a substantial amount of unaccounted cash, along with jewellery and pressure cookers, across various areas of the city.

The total cash confiscated in the operation reached ₹61 lakh, while the seized jewellery was valued at ₹7.5 crore.
