Foxconn to invest Rs 15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu; to create 14,000 high-value jobs

Synopsis: Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa announced that electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn has committed investments of ₹15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu. He said the investments will provide 14,000 high-value jobs.

Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa announced on Monday, 13 October, that electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn has committed investments of ₹15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu. He said the investments will provide 14,000 high-value jobs.

‘First Foxconn Desk in India’

The minister said that the investment is yet another major boost for Tamil Nadu’s electronics and advanced manufacturing sector and added that Chief Minister MK Stalin met Foxconn’s India Representative Robert Wu to reaffirm their deep trust in Tamil Nadu with substantial investment commitments.

“Foxconn will bring its next phase of value-added manufacturing, R&D integration and AI-led advanced tech operations to Tamil Nadu. The first-ever Foxconn Desk in India will ensure seamless facilitation and mission-mode execution!” he added.

The minister further said that the DMK-led state government is setting the stage for Dravidian Model 2.0.

In May 2024, Google announced that it would partner with Foxconn to produce its Pixel smartphones for the first time in Tamil Nadu.

At that time, Stalin had said that the decision to start its production unit was a result of negotiations initiated by the state government with Google management.
