FIFA World Cup: Which are the 5 languages for live coverage in India?

Host nation Qatar will take on Ecuador from South America in the opening game at9:30 pm IST.

The FIFA World Cup broadcaster Viacom 18 on Friday, 18 November, announced the five languages in which fans can watch the live coverage of the matches in India.

This came after the Sports Network of the Viacom 18 announced its roster for the regional commentary panel.

These languages are Tamil, Malayalam, English, Hindi, and Bengali.

This will be available on JioCinema — an online video and live-streaming platform owned by Viacom 18, a subsidiary of TV18.

Apart from JIO, the app is now available to Vi (Vodafone Idea), Airtel, and BSNL subscribers.

Fans can also view the matches on JIO TV channels Sports18 – 1 SD & HD.

The 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup is set to kick off on 20 November at 9.30 pm IST. Host nation Qatar will take on Ecuador from South America in the opening game.

Expert panels

The expert panel comprises footballers and coaches across various languages, who will discuss the possibilities of the game.

Malayalam panel

Former and current national team players Jo Paul Ancheri, CK Vineeth, Mohammed Rafi, Rino Anto, Sushanth Mathew, and Feroz Sherif will form the expert panel in Malayalam.

Tamil panel

Tamil viewers will see former India players and notable commentator Raman Vijayan, along with Nallapan Mohanraj, Dharmaraj Ravanan, and Vijayakarthikeyan as part of the expert group.

English panel

Goa-based Dempo Sports Club’s CEO and former coach Pradhyum Reddy and Brazilian footballer, Jose Ramirez Barreto will form the English expert panel. Former footballers Wayne Rooney, Luis Figo, Robert Pires, Sol Campbell, and Gilberto Silva will also join the English coverage from the studio.

As per ViaCom18 Sports, the panel will be part of Match Centre Live and will give in-depth analysis, pitch-side coverage, and locker room access to the fans.

The Match Centre Live will be a fully immersive studio show customized in all five languages on JioCinema.
