A disturbing incident from Thatikayala village in Dharmasagar Mandal, Warangal district, has sparked outrage after a video of public brutality went viral over the past couple of days.
Though the incident occurred last week, the footage—showing a couple tied to a tree, stripped, their heads forcibly shaved, and beaten in full public view—surfaced online recently, drawing widespread condemnation. The shocking visuals have prompted swift police action. Authorities have since arrested 13 individuals, all reportedly relatives of the woman involved, and the investigation is currently underway.
Speaking to South First, Dharmasagar police officials revealed more of the story behind the incident. “The incident took place on 22 June in Thatikayala village. The incident is mainly between a couple and the extramarital affair partner of the husband, whom I cannot name,” he revealed.
“The couple consists of the wife, who hails from Thatikayala village and the 38-year-old husband, who is from Boinpally village. They also have two grown-up children. The 32-year-old affair partner is from a different village, and they have been together for a few years now,” he explained.
“The family was aware of the husband’s affair and asked him to stop multiple times. However, not heeding the warning, the husband escaped with his paramour recently. The wife’s family, her three brothers specifically, searched for the couple, eventually bringing them back to Thatikayala, where the incident occurred,” he continued.
“As seen in the video, the couple was tied to a tree, stripped, and beaten up by the wife’s family. There are a total of 13 accused in the case, all of whom are related to the wife,” he revealed. “The Accused consists of 6 males and 7 females,” he noted.
“We have subsequently registered a case against these individuals today, applying the relevant sections as per their actions. We have also taken custody of all fourteen accused,” he reported. “We are set to present them to the magistrate tonight,” he added.
However, he noted that the case was still being processed. “Following the incident, both the victims fled the village and are currently hiding,” he said.
