Delhi University colleges see tension as SFI opposes RSS centenary programs

Synopsis: At Ambedkar College, the protest turned tense as students opposed the event. SFI alleged that clashes broke out after some RSS members entered the campus. The group claimed that a few students were assaulted and threatened during the incident.

Tensions were reported on Monday, 13 April, in colleges under University of Delhi after protests by the SFI against events linked to the 100th anniversary of the RSS.

According to SFI, the programmes were conducted as official events inside campuses, including Zakir Husain Delhi College and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College.

At Ambedkar College, the protest turned tense as students opposed the event. SFI alleged that clashes broke out after some RSS members entered the campus. The group claimed that a few students were assaulted and threatened during the incident.

Police later detained several protesting students. SFI said those taken into custody were part of the protest and alleged that those involved in the violence were not detained.

A similar protest had taken place earlier at Zakir Husain College over an RSS-related programme.

Authorities have not yet issued a detailed statement on the incidents.
