Ahead of the third phase of polling for the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge (83) fell unconscious during a poll rally in Jasrota of the Kathua district on Sunday, 29 September.

The senior Congress leader fell unconscious while addressing the gathering following a dip in his blood pressure. He was immediately attended by a team of doctors and continued the speech after a while.

After recovering, Kharge said: “Till the time Modi is not removed (from power), I will remain alive. I will listen to you… I will fight for you.”

According to reports, Kharge was in Jasrota to pay tribute to a head constable who had been killed in an ongoing operation against terrorists in Kathua.

‘Low blood pressure’

Meanwhile, his son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge said he was doing well except a low blood pressure.

“Congress President Sri@kharge felt slightly unwell while addressing a public meeting in Jasrota, Jammu & Kashmir. He has been checked upon by his medical team and apart from slightly low blood pressure, he is doing well. Extremely grateful for everyone’s concern<‘ he wrote on X.

“His resolve, along with people’s good wishes, keeps him going strong,” Priyank Kharge added.
