Ahead of the third phase of polling for the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge (83) fell unconscious during a poll rally in Jasrota of the Kathua district on Sunday, 29 September.
The senior Congress leader fell unconscious while addressing the gathering following a dip in his blood pressure. He was immediately attended by a team of doctors and continued the speech after a while.
After recovering, Kharge said: “Till the time Modi is not removed (from power), I will remain alive. I will listen to you… I will fight for you.”
According to reports, Kharge was in Jasrota to pay tribute to a head constable who had been killed in an ongoing operation against terrorists in Kathua.
Meanwhile, his son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge said he was doing well except a low blood pressure.
“Congress President Sri@kharge felt slightly unwell while addressing a public meeting in Jasrota, Jammu & Kashmir. He has been checked upon by his medical team and apart from slightly low blood pressure, he is doing well. Extremely grateful for everyone’s concern<‘ he wrote on X.
“His resolve, along with people’s good wishes, keeps him going strong,” Priyank Kharge added.
