Congress government plays Sonia Gandhi’s video message at official celebrations of Telangana State Formation Day

Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s video message was broadcast as part of official government celebrations for Telangana State Formation Day.

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, who was invited as chief guest for the event, addressed the people of Telangana on Sunday, 2 June, on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day, through a video message, which was included in the official celebrations.

Due to ill health, Gandhi, who was originally scheduled to attend the state government’s program as the chief guest, conveyed her sentiments and promises through the video instead.

“On the auspicious occasion of Telangana State Formation Day, I would like to begin by dedicating this message to the countless martyrs of Mother Telangana who sacrificed their lives for the formation of the state,” Gandhi said, honouring the sacrifices made for the state’s creation.

Reflecting on her commitment to the statehood movement, she continued , “I had promised the people of Telangana in 2004 in Karimnagar that the Congress party would fulfill their dream of a separate state.”

“After this promise, there was disapproval within my party; many quit. But your courage and determination gave me the strength and motivation to realize the dream of Telangana,” she said.

Gandhi expressed her gratitude towards the state’s people for the respect they have bestowed upon her over the last decade.

“The people of Telangana have given me a lot of respect in the last ten years. The responsibility you have given our party to build a prosperous and developed state is one I believe it is my duty to fulfil,” she said.

Gandhi assured the people that the Congress government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would diligently work towards the state’s development.

“On this auspicious occasion, I assure you all that the Congress government under Revanth Reddy will leave no stone unturned in fulfilling its guarantees in Telangana,” she affirmed.

“On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Telangana Formation Day, I extend my best wishes for the progress and prosperous future of the state,” Gandhi said concluding her message.
