Ramachandra Bharati and Nanda Kumar were arrested as soon as they walked out of prison on Thursday, 8 December.
Two people accused in the “Cash for MLAs” case — Faridabad priest Ramachandra Bharati and Hyderabad hotelier Nanda Kumar — who were released on bail on the morning of Thursday, 8 December, were arrested again as other cases are pending against them.
The two, after submission of bail papers, documents, and surety to the jail authorities, walked out of jail with their bags.
However, the police were waiting for them outside the jail and took them away in a van after arresting them. They were later produced at the Nampally court.
Ramachandra Bharati was arrested in connection with cases pertaining to a fake passport case, bogus Aadhaar card, PAN card, and fake driving license, while Nanda Kumar is wanted for five cases.
All of these are registered at the Banjara Hills Police Station.
A forgery case has been registered against Nanda Kumar at the Jubilee Hills Police Station, while an SC and ST (Atrocities) Act case was registered at the Rajendra Nagar Police Station on a complaint by one Balaliah on 24 October.
Balaliah alleged that Nanda Kumar had abused him on the basis of his caste when he asked for the return of ₹80 lakh he had loaned him.
There is also a cheating case registered against Kumar in 2017 at the Rajendra Nagar police station. There is another case registered against him in Ameerpet’s excise police station.
The other accused in the case, Tirupati pontiff Simahayaji, was released on bail on Wednesday. As there were no other cases against him, no one stopped him.
Nanda Kumar told reporters after he was released that he was not aware of what was happening as he was in jail for the past 40 days.
He said that he would react after learning the details of the developments that took place after his arrest.
Meanwhile, the Telangana high court adjourned to Friday the case relating to the SIT challenging the dismissal of its memo listing as accused BJP general secretary BL Santhosh, Kerala doctor Jaggu Swamy, BDJS president Thushar Vellapally and Karimnagar advocate B Srinivas in the “Cash for MLAs” case.
