Synopsis: Voting concluded on Tuesday in the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, with exit polls from various agencies indicating a preference for continuity. The National Democratic Alliance is projected to secure a clear majority, paving the way for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s record tenure to continue.

Voting for the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections concluded on Tuesday, 11 November. Exit polls for Bihar’s high-profile contests largely indicated voter preference for continuity.

The second phase of polling, held across 122 constituencies on Tuesday, saw over 3.7 crore eligible voters deciding the fate of 1,302 candidates.

Exit polls released by several agencies after polling ended indicated a clear advantage for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Most surveys projected the alliance comfortably crossing the halfway mark in the 243-member Assembly, signalling that  Kumar’s record tenure in office may be set to continue.

  • People’s Pulse forecast 133–159 seats for the NDA and 75–101 for the Mahagathbandhan.
  • JVC Polls–Times Now estimated 135–150 for the NDA and 88–103 for the Opposition.
  • Matrize placed the NDA even higher, at 147–167 seats, with the Mahagathbandhan projected between 70 and 90.
  • People’s Insight showed a similar trend, giving the NDA 133–148 seats and the Opposition 87–102.
  • Dainik Bhaskar’s exit poll predicted 145–160 for the NDA and 73–91 for the Mahagathbandhan.
  • P-Marq suggested 142–162 for the NDA and 80–98 for the Opposition.
