Varshini (21) deceased victim

In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old girl died by suicide at her house after her parents denied her permission to go for a photoshoot during the New Year’s Eve at a renowned mall in Bengaluru.

The deceased, Varshini, was a resident of Sudhamanagar in central Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden area, the police said.

Varshini had completed a three-month photography course before she started her course of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at a private college in the city.

According to the Wilson Garden police, the incident came to light between 10.30 am and 11 am on the morning of Monday, 1 January, when Varshini did not come out of her room.

Her family members, after repeated knocks on the door and calls on her mobile phone, broke open the door and found her unresponsive.

Her father rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. He then informed the police, who took a complaint of unnatural death and are investigating the incident.

The police searched Varshini’s room for any suicide note, but there was none. They are checking her phone to see if she had sent any messages or called anyone before she took the extreme step.

Her body was shifted to KIMS Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

On New Year’s Eve, she asked permission to visit Orion Mall in the Yeshwanthpura area of Bengaluru for a doing a photoshoot on the occasion of the New Year.
