Synopsis: After his daughter’s sudden death, former PSU CFO Sivakumar exposed police extortion on LinkedIn. Bellandur Inspector Ramesh Rotty and two officers demanded bribes for post-mortem and reports. The viral post triggered suspensions, including Rotty’s, ordered by Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh following an enquiry.

Following the suspension of two police officers, Bellandur Police Inspector Ramesh Rotty was suspended on Monday after the former CFO of a central PSU, Sivakumar, alleged that the officer demanded a bribe following the death of his only daughter.

Sivakumar’s LinkedIn post on the matter had gone viral. Earlier, Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Santosh and Constable Goraknath were suspended.

Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh ordered the suspension on grounds of dereliction of duty, following a detailed enquiry conducted by senior officers of the Whitefield Police Division, reported The New Indian Express.

His post, which went viral, was later removed under alleged pressure. According to family members, the ambulance driver initially demanded Rs 3,000 to move the body but later asked for an additional Rs 2,000. The police allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 to permit the post-mortem, claiming there was “foul play” in the death.

After Sivakumar’s former employer intervened, the police allowed the post-mortem, and the family paid Rs 5,000 at the Bellandur police station to obtain the report. They also paid Rs 2,000 at the Mahadevapura (Bengaluru East City Corporation) office for the death certificate.
