B. Shivadhar Reddy IPS, Telangana's first Intelligence officer.
Telangana’s first intelligence chief, Shivadhar Reddy, who was sidelined by BRS chief and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is set to be re-appointed to the post by Chief Minister-designate Revanth Reddy after his swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, 7 December.
B Shivadhar Reddy, a 1994-batch IPS officer, was the first intelligence chief of Telangana. Before this, he served as the commissioner of police (CP) in Visakhapatnam and held the position of the director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in united Andhra Pradesh.
Following the formation of the new state of Telangana, Shivadhar Reddy, known for his strong support for Telangana’s formation and regarded as an upright officer, was appointed the intelligence chief by KCR in his first tenure.
However, his tenure lasted only around two years and two months before Shivadhar Reddy was transferred to a reportedly insignificant role as the inspector general of police in charge of personnel.
According to official sources, this move was perceived as sidelining by KCR, although the specific reasons were best known only to him.
In September 2016, Reddy was succeeded by Naveen Chand, a 1996-batch IPS officer who was serving as the Cyberabad CP at that time.
Reddy now serves as the assistant director general of police (ADGP) for Railways and Road Safety.
Reliable sources informed South First that Shivadhar Reddy would be chosen by Revanth Reddy to head the intelligence section following the latter’s swearing-in ceremony as chief minister at LB Grounds in Hyderabad on Thursday.
