Synopsis: The TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh hosted the “Super Six – Super Hit” public meeting on the outskirts of Anantapur. The event marked the successful implementation of the coalition’s six key electoral promises. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, in his address, focused on the government’s dual emphasis on welfare and long-term growth.
In a grand display of political solidarity and governance achievements, the TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh hosted the “Super Six – Super Hit” public meeting at the GMR Grounds on the outskirts of Anantapur on Wednesday, 10 September.
The event, which drew massive crowds, marked the successful implementation of the coalition’s six key electoral promises, dubbed the “Super Six” schemes.
These include enhanced pensions, free bus travel for women, financial aid for schoolchildren under Thalliki Vandanam, Annadata Sukhibhava for farmers, free LPG cylinders, and job creation for youth.
The event, the first major joint public outreach programme since the NDA’s landslide victory in 2024, was intended to showcase the alliance’s commitment to welfare amid economic challenges inherited from the previous YSRCP regime.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and BJP state President PVN Madhav were at the forefront of the celebrations.
IT and Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh did not attend the event. He was in Amaravati, discussing with officials ways to ensure safe passage for Andhras stuck in Nepal. He arranged a special flight for them from Kathmandu to Visakhapatnam.
Naidu, Kalyan and Madhav delivered fiery speeches at the event, which blended celebration of accomplishments with sharp critiques of the Opposition. The gathering symbolised the coalition’s unity in Rayalaseema — a region long plagued by drought and underdevelopment.
The rally is viewed as a pivotal event for the NDA, aiming to counter the YSRCP’s narrative of unfulfilled promises and economic mismanagement. 15 months into power, the coalition has positioned the Super Six as a “super hit,” claiming full implementation despite a staggering ₹10 lakh crore debt burden left by the previous administration.
The celebrations not only boosted morale among alliance workers but also targeted key demographics, such as women and farmers, who form the backbone of the schemes’ beneficiaries. By choosing Anantapur, a TDP stronghold, the NDA reinforced its regional dominance.
Naidu, in his address, focused on the government’s dual emphasis on welfare and long-term growth. He praised the coalition’s resilience in delivering on promises amid fiscal constraints. “All the regions are important to the NDA. We are rolling out welfare and development in all of them.”
He also touched upon his favourite subject, attracting investments in the IT and electronics sectors. He said the government introduced six new policies to attract investments. IT majors like Google, TCS and Cognizant have come forward to invest in Andhra Pradesh, he said.
He further underscored the philosophy behind governance: “Governments are not just about meeting the immediate needs of the people; they must also provide a golden future and create opportunities.” Naidu came down heavily on the YSRCP for allegedly destroying the state’s economy and brand image, alleging they pushed Andhra Pradesh into massive debt while failing to deliver on development.
Naidu’s speech also included high praise for his deputy, Pawan Kalyan, referring to him as the “Power Star” who played a pivotal role in the alliance’s formation and success. This acknowledgement underscored the interpersonal equations within the NDA, where Kalyan’s Jana Sena has been instrumental in mobilising youth and backward communities.
Naidu’s words aimed to cement the coalition’s cohesion, countering any rumours of internal rifts and projecting a united front against Opposition attacks.
Pawan Kalyan, a crowd favourite, echoed Naidu’s sentiments while focusing on the government’s people-centric approach. He assured the audience of continued welfare despite hurdles.
“Even though there are financial difficulties, we are fulfilling the Super Six promises,” Pawan Kalyan declared, reaffirming the coalition’s dedication.
Pawan Kalyan also addressed regional issues, promising, “We assure that there will be no more hardships in agency areas.” His speech resonated with the agrarian crowd, which stressed farmer welfare under Annadata Sukhibhava.
As a film star-turned-politician, he bridged glamour and governance, drawing massive crowds and infusing energy into the NDA’s narrative. His commitment to social justice positioned him as the alliance’s moral compass, appealing to voters disillusioned with past corruption.
Madhav, representing the national ally BJP, reinforced the coalition’s unity and vision for Andhra Pradesh. “We will turn Andhra Pradesh into a game changer,” Madhav proclaimed, highlighting the NDA’s ambition to elevate the state economically.
“The unity of TDP, BJP and Jana Sena coalition will grow,” he added. Madhav’s presence symbolised central support, with references to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s backing for projects like Amaravati’s revival.
The implications of the event are significant. Amid onion price crashes and farmer distress in districts like Kurnool, the NDA used this platform to look towards positivity, showcasing Super Six as an antidote to economic woes.
Critics, including YSRCP leaders like YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, have dismissed it as a “super flop,” pointing to delays in full implementation. However, the massive turnout and enthusiastic response suggest the coalition has regained momentum, countering Opposition propaganda.
