Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, 18 November, announced that the BJP would ensure free visits to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya for all residents of Telangana if it was voted to power in the 30 November Assembly elections.

Addressing a “Vijaya Sankalpa Sabha” rally at Gadwal, he alleged that the Congress hindered and delayed the construction of the temple for the last 70 years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the “Bhumi Puja” of the temple, and the “pran pratishtha” would be done on 22 January, 2024, he said.

Shah urged the gathering to elect the BJP in Telangana and said the resulting government would arrange for darshan of Lord Ram in Ayodhya free of cost to all.

Targeting the K Chandrashekar Rao-led BRS government in Telangana, he said it gave religion-based reservation to Muslims, which was “unconstitutional”.

The BJP would abolish religious reservation and increase the quota to OBCs and STs should it form the next government in the state, he said.

Calling both the Congress and the BRS “anti-backward class” parties, he claimed that only BJP and PM Modi could do good for BCs.

He reiterated the BJP’s promise to make a Backward Class leader chief minister of the state.

KCR also invoked Ram Temple

It should be noted that KCR on 15 November invoked the Ram Temple while targeting the Congress.

The chief minister obliquely said the Babri Masjid was demolished under the Congress’ watch, alleging that the party only used Muslims as a vote bank.

Rao also emphasised that true secularism should be evident in one’s actions. He asserted that the BRS treated everyone equally, regardless of their religion or community. Accusing the Congress of using Muslims solely as a vote bank, he criticized the party for what he deemed as insincere gestures.

He pointedly questioned the Congress about its role during the demolition of the Babri Masjid, insinuating that the Congress had not acted in the best interest of the Muslim community.

In his address, KCR affirmed the commitment of the BRS to equal treatment for all, contrasting it with what he characterized as the Congress’s political posturing and insincere actions.

Time to give VRS to BRS

Amit Shah has asserted that the Telangana BRS Government is involved in extensive corruption and has proposed the implementation of Voluntary Retirement from Service (VRS) for the BRS.

Shah alleged that the government led by KCR had engaged in a ₹40,000-crore scam in the Kaleshwaram project, a ₹22,000-crore scam in Mission Kakatiya, a ₹7,300-crore scam in the outer ring road lease, a ₹4,000-crore scam in Miyapur land deals, and corruption in the liquor trade, Mission Bhagiratha, and various other schemes.

He highlighted that KCR had pledged to appoint a Dalit as the chief minister following the formation of Telangana.

However, he ended up assuming the position himself, and now he is attempting to position his son as the chief minister, he said.

Alleging that the KCR Government set a world record for unfulfilled promises, he cited the failure to complete projects such as the Gurramgadda bridge, Gattu lift irrigation scheme, Medical College at Gadwal, Palamuru-Rangareddy project, and others.

2G, 3G, and 4G parties

Referring to the BRS, the AIMIM, and the Congress as 2G, 3G, and 4G parties, he observed that the BRS was being run by the second generation of one family, the AIMIM by the third generation, and the Congress by the fourth generation, sidelining other potential leaders.

He pointed out that during the 2004-14 period, the Congress government allocated only ₹2 lakh crore to combined Andhra Pradesh, while the BRS government allocated ₹2.5 lakh crore to Telangana in nine years.

He criticised the KCR government for not adequately developing the Jogulamba temple at Alampur, noting that only ₹20 crore out of the allocated ₹100 crore had been spent, and the ₹70 crore sanctioned by the Centre remained unutilized.

Additionally, he assured that the BJP would create 2.5 lakh government jobs within five years if elected to power. The meeting also featured speeches by the national president of BJP BC Morcha and Rajya Sabha member K Laxman, national vice president of BJP DK Aruna, and BJP candidate for Gadwal, Boya Shiva.
