The eight MLA-elects from the BJP skipped the ceremony even as former minister T Harish Rao and former speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy represented the Opposition BRS.
BJP’s T Raja Singh on Friday declared that none of the party’s new members would take oath if Owaisi, known for his alleged anti-Hindu stand, was nominated as the pro-tem Speaker.
The BRS will elect its leader in the Assembly with former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao undergoing a hip-replacement surgery after suffering a fracture in a fall in the washroom of his farmhouse at Erraville in Siddipet district early on Friday, 8 December.
