Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka students among top 14 in JEE-Main

Of the 14 students who scored in the 100 percentile in the engineering examination, eight are from South India.

Four students from Telangana, three from Andhra Pradesh and one from Karnataka have scored in the 100 percentile in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) first session, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The JEE was held from 24 to 30 June, and 14 students from across the country achieved the top score overall.

The students from Telangana who achieved this feat are Jasti Yashwanth VVS, Aniket Chattopadhyay, Dheeraj Kurukunda, and Rupesh Biyani.

Koyyana Suhas, Penikalapato Ravi, and Polisetty Karthikeya are the three students from Andhra Pradesh who score in the 100th percentile.

Boya Haren Sathvik is the only student from Karnataka among the top 14 scorers in the engineering entrance test paper to emulate that feat.

While Deeksha Dhiwakar was the topper from Tamil Nadu, with a score in the 99.9984259th percentile, Thomas Biju Cheeramvelil from Kerala, with a score in the 99.9937942th percentile was the topper of his state.

A total of 8,72,432 candidates registered for JEE Session 1 this year, of whom 7,69,589 appeared for the examination.

The final ranks of the candidates will be released after considering the best scores from the two sessions.

How JEE is scored

“NTA scores are normalised across multi-session papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who appeared for the examination in one session,” explained an official.

“The marks obtained are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of the examinees,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the NTA has reopened the online application window for JEE Main Session 2.

As per official notification, candidates have till 11 pm on Tuesday to submit their application forms for the next session.

The deadline for application fees is 1:50 pm on Tuesday, and the examinations will be held from 21 to 30 July.

Candidates who have already appeared for Session 1 may choose the paper, medium of the examination, and cities for Session 2.
