The Kunnam police have booked Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Thalapathy Vijay and his bodyguards after a video from a recent rally showed bouncers throwing a man off the stage.

The case was registered based on a petition filed by Sarathkumar at the Perambalur District Superintendent of Police’s office.

He alleged that he was manhandled by Vijay’s security personnel during the event.

Police confirmed that a case has been filed against Vijay and his security staff under sections 189(2), 296(B), and 115(I) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The development comes as Vijay, who launched TVK in 2024, attempts to consolidate his political base ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

Earlier this month, he announced that he would contest from the Madurai East constituency, marking his most direct electoral challenge to the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
