In a bold push to position Telangana as a global leader in artificial intelligence, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu unveiled an ambitious plan to train two lakh youth as AI professionals within the next two years. The announcement came during the launch of Telangana Data Exchange (TGDeX)—India’s first AI-integrated data exchange platform—at T-Hub on Wednesday.

Developed in collaboration with JICA and backed by IISc Bengaluru, TGDeX aims to democratize access to AI by connecting government departments, startups, researchers, and students. With over 480 datasets and 3,000 AI startups already onboard, the platform promises real-world applications across agriculture, healthcare, education, and public services.

Sridhar Babu also revealed plans for a world-class AI University, an AI-driven school curriculum, and a Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computing. He emphasised that AI is no longer a frontier technology but a transformative force shaping governance and innovation.

TGDeX is set to grow rapidly, with a target of integrating 2,000 datasets in five years and supporting at least 30 government AI projects currently underway, putting Telangana firmly on the global AI map.
