Karnataka is spearheading India’s shift towards specialised and customised coffee to cater to evolving global and domestic tastes.
Farmers and brewers are collaborating with the Coffee Board of India and government ministries to promote unique blends like wine, vanilla, and cocoa coffee.
Pilot marketing projects are planned in 15–18 countries, while organic coffee cultivation is expanding in tribal and non-traditional areas.
With higher returns – up to twice that of regular coffee – this premium segment is gaining traction. Karnataka, home to 1.5 lakh of India’s 4 lakh coffee growers, is central to this growing niche market.
