Four Elephants from Bannerghatta to Japan Under Animal Exchange Programme
Four elephants, including a tusker—Suresh (8), Gowri (9), Shruthi (7), and Tulsi (5)—will be flown from Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) to Himeji Central Park, Japan, as part of an animal exchange programme. The transfer, via cargo flight from Bengaluru to Osaka, is scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
In return, BBP will receive four cheetahs, four jaguars, four pumas, three chimpanzees, and eight black-capped capuchins. All elephants were born in captivity and have undergone transport training and medical checks. A trained team, including veterinarians and keepers, will accompany them.
